OUR TEAM DRAFT

Our Team

We are a magnificent team of unpredictable and potentially dangerous people. Some would even call us a dicey family.

_Dicey_…

Se what I did there?

I am so proud of my dad status now!

Anyways…

Here is a quick introduction for each member of our original team, the ones that made the Omega Roll Store dream come to reality and grow into the unique hobbies and entertainment service rolling in front of your eyes.

Dad John

Ah, this guy… this f###ing guy… this f###ing guy is ME!

I absolutely loved Role Playing Games and storytelling since my young years, and actually learned the English language because I was so eager to understand a computer game called “Quest for Glory: So You Want to Be a Hero”.

It is said that I rolled my first dice when I was still inside my mother’s womb. Something related to snakes and ladders and a dice resting on top of my mom’s then pregnant belly while she was kind of laying down on a sofa.

My father was was glowing with the expectations of a little football player baby boy, the poor man… I turned out to be one of the worst football players that ever lived, probably due to the fact that I absolutely hate playing it. I love the game, just hate playing it.

Good thing my parents picked up on the cues and stopped forcing me to represent a whole nation’s dream, and instead invested heavily in creative outlets for my non-stop need for action and flow of ideas. They got me into all sorts of other sports, games and arts, and it became more and more apparent that books, martial arts and lego blocks were the only things that could appease my wild self to behave like a human being while developing all my wild thoughts and encouraging my adventurous side.

One thing led to another and BOOM, I wasn’t even seven years old yet when I was blessed with a beautiful board game called Dragon Quest:

And just like that, I was the Dragon in the Dungeon myself, boredom was completely annihilated from my existence forever. Up to this day it was one of the most smart, smooth and meaningful gifts I ever had, not because of the game itself, but because of the doors it opened.

Unbeknownst to my parents I’ve already been in contact with some of the characters in the images of Dragon Quest’s cards and playbooks, as the art for the board game was all based in the fictitious wonder of Forgotten Healms scenarios and the amazing books written by Jeff Grubb and my favourite author at the time, R. A. Salvatore.

My parents had no idea that I actually knew the characters depicted in the first booklet of the Dragon Quest board game from the The Icewind Dale Trilogy and have been building lego scenarios based on those books for a few months at that point.

Timing was so naturally perfect that the resulting enchantment ripped waves through all my friends and family, breeding a whole pack of role game players right there.

Our family still has the same acrylic dice set from that box gift the me in 1994, as we kept handing them over to the next generation of players; it is no exaggeration in saying that those dice have been rolled thousands of times and brought hundreds of hours of joy and healthy development to more people than I could count.

(you can check out this pretty cool review of the game if you are curious about the game itself)

I, Dad John,  I am the founder and co-owner of the Omega Roll Store. Most of the content here is written exclusively by me.

I am the madness behind the words over here; creating content for this project has been an irresistible mix of therapeutical experience and a motivated challenge to my skills, as well as a brand new quest for knowledge regarding e-commerce.

If you got this far into the reading, thank you, thank you so much.

It is an absolute wonder to have visitors in our Omega Roll projects, I hope you have the greatest of times with your visit!

Mommy B

B is the reason that we are here today, mostly healthy, almost successful, always struggling to improve ourselves and stay on higher ground against the crushing nature of existence as we experience it.

[PICTURE MISSING]

She is not that much into role playing games or storytelling, yet she has an innate way of formulating plans constantly and is simply unable to stop her awesomeness. Her brain is aways working towards the future and looking for opportunities of improvement in whatever projects she is working with or activity she is around

Mommy B is a dream builder, the real deal when it comes to mother material, wife material, friend material… you name it, she’s got it!

This lady is fierce, smart and resourceful, and has a fail-proof moral compass that structured our family and our business as something more than the expected description. Doing the right thing is part of who she is, nothing and no-one can steer her away from her principles, as those are as important to Mommy B as the highest praised of goals.

Mommy B is and introvert, but that doesn’t stop her from being an amazing charismatic leader; she is aided by beloved Orixá, Oxum, which fits her well, as the amazing and caring source of life and nurture that she is. Oxum is the Dame of spiritual and material riches, fertility and growth, love and happiness, and just like Oxum’s precious gifts to us, Mommy B’s presence is a blessing to be treasured

A simple glance at her makes me smile, grateful for our much appreciated lives.

Mommy B is already ready to try new things and is always willing to join in adventures when time comes to try any new board games or cooperative video games. She is a huge Harry Potter fan and an avid book reader, which made it easier for us to connect our passions, as she is very appreciative of some good storytelling and a major source of feedback for my storytelling-related projects.

(PRO TIP: if you want to impress you Harry Potter obsessed loved ones, I strongly suggest you to secretly study the Wizarding World to nail down the references and support your loved ones passion with some dedication to understanding their own passion. I would also recommend getting them random mysterious gifts from The Curiosa Society, as they have some of the best wizardry-themed products (and prices!).)

Mommy B works as the financial advisor for our business and has a detailed plan on how we should move forward, what steps to take and when to take them. She delegated the best of our powers to the right tasks, so we can offer our visitors the best experience at the same time that she makes sure our projects are practical, financially feasible, and aligned with our future goals for the family.

Our plan is to spend the bare minimum to keep our Omega Store related projects running, and invest every penny attained in the first year of business back into the business (professional photos, testing products, making our own reviews, look for better products, adjust our adds, etc.) Mommy B was the first to realize that this project is much bigger than any of us, that the Omega Store projects are productive way to invest our time and learn more about e-commerce while we have fun with our hobbies, and she was adamant that we should aim for long-term sustainability instead of focusing in immediate profits.

B’s take on business is that we should honestly reflect on our positive impact on people’s lives and only offer services or products that we vouch for. On her own words: “Our goal is that our visitors shall, in their own ways, get the same joy and satisfaction from our projects that you get from working on the projects, John; that in itself is enough motivation for us to keep the Omega Store running”.

Baby Jo

Oh my gosh, there is baby in the store!

[PICTURE MISSING]

I wasn’t read for many, many things regarding parenthood, like how amazing you own baby smells to you compared to anything else in the whole planet.

I also wasn’t ready for the fact that Baby Jo was immediatelly attracted to my dice rolling, storytelling driven, joyful madness of a mind when it comes to enjoying time with her. From day zero since she was born we went on all sorts of adventures together. Man real, many imaginary, all of them magical and beyond description regarding the satisfaction it give me to fuel up such an amazing active kid while they fuel me up to be the absolute best of me.

Not necessarily because I know what it is to be a great business man or a great storyteller or a great gamer, etc.

Because I want to be a great Dad.

You can’t separate the rest of your life from that. To be a great dad you have to be a great worker dad, great husband dad, great gamer dad an so on.

So it gives me IMENSE sense of pride that I can share everything I love about my life with my kid.

She is not just learning about dice and games, she is experience the joy of creative processes that united generations of storytellers and gamers. Beyond a single game, a single system, or any pretentious declaration, Baby Jo is learning how to create her own joy and magic out of thin air by channelling my enthusiasm with everything that surrounds the Omega Rolls Store.

Check out our Omega Family Blog to learn a bit of our discovery process in action regarding our products and the ways that we try engaging the family in common actives that benefit multiple areas of our lives.

By sharing our passions with each other, we bring a bit of lightness to our hearts, with a promise of a better future for the next generation: a future were Baby Jo is free to succeed wherever she may roam with a heathy and active mind, reaping the benefits of all that is great about the way we roll.

[PICTURE MISSING]

Baby Jo is our official tester when we want to check which are the things that look good beyond age gaps. We let her to play safely around dice of all sizes and colours, and she is not shy about telling us what she likes or not.

Besides the quality control and design choice feedback, Baby Jo is also a major driver into getting things done in the store. Every parent wants to be successful for their kid’s sake, right?

Now I know how my parents felt!
