Kathy: “What the…”

When Kathy started her phrase, she was slightly uncomfortable with Angie's unusual behaviour, and somewhat surprised with the insistence on the team regarding the feelings being described and the motion to dismiss their current agenda over those feelings. Discussions over missions happened all the time within the team, but it was mostly regarding procedure and how to get things done, while at this specific moment, her trusted and skilled team was talking about giving up a mission without any decent reasons to do so, at least from Kathy's perspective.

Before finishing that sentence “What the…”, she started feeling something hard to explain, as Angie slowly took her dark glasses off her face to unveil that her eyes were completely disfigured. In fact, Kathy can't barely make sense of what is happening and what is it exactly that she is seeing in Angie's face.

Weird tentacle-shaped dense and viscous smoke is pouring, foaming and bubbling out of Angie's eye sockets. It is not clear where those tentacles start nor where they end, as the foggy effect created by the movement makes Angie's face seem like a blur. The only distinguishable trait is the creepy smile, everything else seems like noise, like something is directly interfering with Kathy's brain capacity to compute the images in front of her.

Kathy's own voice changes to a baffled tone as she finishes the sentence instinctively, still not able to figure out what is happening or what is she looking at.

Kathy: “… hell?”

Kathleen feels like her whole body got tired all of a sudden, like gravity itself got a harder pull and made it uncomfortable for her to just hold the weight or her own head while she is sitting. She also notices a strange sleepy feeling, like a part of her mind just decided to shut down and her whole body needs to lie down for a nap right there.

She is not scared or afraid of the unusual circumstance, she is not specially worried about what she sees in front of her either, even though it defies logic. As a very logical person, Kathy is trying to figure out if she's being poisoned or suffering from some unrelated condition. She hasn't abused any psychedelic substances, she hasn't been around poisonous animals, she hasn't handled toxic materials nor got in contact with anyone that did, as far as she is concerned. She had bad trips in her life before, including some bad PTSD flashbacks, but the combination of control over her actions and clear state of mind tell her this is something completely different from any mental breakdown she ever had.

If this is a bad trip, it just feels so _unaturally normal_  and at the same time so _expected and real_. It is like she was transported somewhere else that exists, like another dimension or something, not to the wrong place inside her head. Like someone messed up the screen settings of her monitor, or hacked into her brain to distort reality.

She has no memories of hitting her head hard, extreme acceleration, diving pressure… in a few seconds she runs the list of things that could be affecting her perception, but the facts are simply not adding up to the chaos.

She hears Angie still talking to her, but Kathy can't figure out what the meaning of the words are, it seems to be either total nonsense or language she never heard before. It sounds like an obscure chant of some sort, some weird language that echoes rhythmically and gives Kathy a chill down her spine, making her whole body super tense.

Looking at Angie now, the smoke tentacles seem to be trying to reach out to her in a menacing way, teasing her, like they are about to strike her face and do to her whatever they did to Angie.

Kathy gets mad. For some reason she knows, she knows that what she is looking at is not Angie.

Kathy: * slaps the smoke tentacles away *

Kathy: “Come back, Angie!”

The smoke tentacles coming out of Angie's face react to the slap and start moving more aggressively towards Kathy, they grow longer out of Angie's eyes and try to hit Kathy, hurt her and push her out of the chopper.

Now Kathy is really mad. Whatever is going on, it is time to stop it.

Kathy: *grabs one of the tentacles*

Kathy: "It is going to take more than a bad trip to scare me!"

Kathy: * violently pulls on the smokey tentacles, letting a roar of rage out *

To her surprise, not only the intense pulling move rips one tentacle out of Angie's eye sockets, every other tentacle on her face explodes out as well, and Angie falls from her sitting position, apparently unconscious.

Immediately as the tentacle explosion happens Kathy is transported back to her regular senses and the feeling is overwhelming. It takes a while for her to figure out what is going on after that.

She finds herself kneeling down in front of Angie's unconscious body. Angie is facing down on Kathy's lap, but there is no time to asses her friend, because as soon as her senses go back to normal, Kathy realizes that the other crew members were also having the worst bad trip of their lives, or at least experienced something similar to what she experienced during the last few seconds.

Aidan is yelling something in his mother tongue; Zaida is bleeding and holding the side of her ribs like she just got struck by something; Charlie is cleaning his lips with the back of his hand like he just puked, and seems to be shaking a bit; the only thing Kathy can figure out right away is that everyone is just as confused as she is, but for apparently different reasons.

Kathy: "Gosh darn it… what… what… are you guys ok?"

Charlie and Zaida reply at the same time:

Zaida: "F### no, I am not ok, what the f### was that?"

Zaida: * looks at her hands and shakes her head realizing that the wound in her torso is real *

Zaida: "One of the flying s###s hit me right through the left side"”

Chas: * shakes his head in negative *

Chas: "Oh, that was terrible… I think one of those things just tried to r*** my face!"

Chas: "Jesus Christ, is she ok?"

Before they have time to finish any assessments Aidan switches the yelling to English:

Aidan: "Listen to me for f### sakes! WE ARE GOING DOWN!"
