Dark tales and bold choices - Preamble

Dark tales and bold choices - Preamble

- Preamble -

To demonstrate the power of an Omega Roll, I am going to have some fun while allowing myself to play with my role-playing and storytelling skills: I am going to write a story from scratch and base the outcomes of certain key moments of the script in results attributed by die rolls.

For every section of the story that I write, there will be at least two rolls: one made by myself and one made by someone else. No matter what the results are, I will consider that as the final say on that aspect of the story and re-adjust the continuation of that story accordingly.

Since this mix of results and inconsistent script spells doom and gloom to the characters of the story, I am already establishing that the genre of the tales are going to be somewhat based in horror. Accepting a sinister outcome is kind of an easy way out for me if the dice rolls spell grim fates and dark endings for our characters, but it will also guarantee that all the choices will lead to new challenges, no matter how logic or bold those choices and results are.

Occasionally, I will also allow the input of "outsiders" in bits of the story with something else other than dice rolls, but these will be all about dark tales and bold choices, in the Omega Roll store, so you know there will be some serious dice rolling going on.

I take my dice very seriously, my friends.

To get things more interesting (maybe also chaotic, lets see…), there will be no fixed system to decide all the outcomes, but I will always stipulate the rules for each roll beforehand, there will be no choice but to follow through with whatever the dice decide. All of that might result in short-lived characters and even abrupt ending for the whole tale… who knows?

The Omega Roll knows!

As I guy that narrated role playing adventures for more than 20 years, I don't really care for the certainties as much as I am fascinated by possibilities. I am hoping that this little writing game will take our tales in unexpected directions that will challenge my storytelling capacities, with the added bonus that some of you might enjoy the ride.

Even better: in my dreams, some of you might get the dice fever and check all related products available in the Omega Roll store to perpetuate and strengthen the magic culture of dice lovers, storytellers and role players. You won't regret it!
